Salem Tovar is a criminally underrated and unknown producer, whose latest track, ‘I Kinda Wanna Die’, is a poignant, moving piece of trip-hop. The title itself proves that Tovar is unafraid to put vulnerability at the forefront of her music; rippling sounds, distant beats and trippy melody lines make up the track, with her isolated, unique voice sitting at the centre of it all. The lyrics are just as touching, thoughtful and raw: “I don’t want a second chance in life, why choose to be sad twice? I don’t want a second glance of hope, or maybe I’ll just let go”.
